• Tweets posted after 3 pm on Friday or during the weekend are less likely to be retweeted

Bottom Line: While these findings are definitely helpful to keep in mind when managing your social schedule, they are not going to be your secret weapon to social media success. Social media isn’t something that you can set your watch by and as a small business owner, you know how unpredictable customer behavior can be.

How to Break Through Fear and Self-Doubt

Fear and self-doubt plague all of us. To the degree you can overcome your insecurities, you will experience freedom to be yourself and reach your full potential as an entrepreneur. The most important thing to understand is that everyone experiences these scary emotions to some degree, regardless of how confident and self-assured people may seem.
After I made a recent presentation at Google's New York office, an audience member asked me, "How do you become so self-assured and confident?" I responded: "How do you know I am self-confident? The truth is you don't know what I am experiencing inside, only I know that. You have the impression that I am self-assured and confident, but you don't know that for sure."
We continued to talk about the importance of confidence versus fear, and I left the presentation alarmed over how big this issue is. Because I have witnessed so many individuals who stop themselves from ever getting started because of that tormenting self-doubt, I decided to write down the things I do to handle it. Follow these five tips when fear and insecurity strike:
1. Don't forget that it's normal. When you are fearful or insecure, remind yourself that you're simply feeling what most other people experience. You are probably doing something that is new for you or that you are excited about. Fear is a normal feeling, and I would be more concerned if you didn't experience it.
2. Fill your calendar. The busier I stay, the more confident I am. Never allow too much white space on your calendar and you will not experience fear. I tell people, "If you want to meet the devil, just have too much free time on your hands." Doubt loves the person with lots of time for thinking about himself and stirring up negative feelings.
3. Embrace fear. For me, fear has become the indicator of the things I actually need to and must do--and that have had the greatest payoff. Do what you are scared to do and watch your confidence grow. I am not suggesting you need to take physical risks, but that you should make the call you are most scared of. Regardless of the results, you will walk away inspired that you did it rather than thinking less of yourself for not taking action.
4. Go beyond your comfort zones. Very successful people don't seek comfort; they seek success and are willing to do what is most uncomfortable. But most of the world is seeking comfort and familiarity, which are traps that cause you to settle for the mediocre. If you want to get to the next level of your business, you've got to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
5. Take '10X' Actions. Albert Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge, but I will take massive action over either. I am not the smartest guy or the most creative, but I assure you that if I operate at activity levels 10 times my competition, I will dominate. I never use the word "action" in the singular because I have never found one action to be effective enough that it didn't require a follow up. Multiply whatever you think is required by 10 and become a machine of action. If you do that, I assure you that your fear will subside.

What is the history of OPCs?
In 1534, French explorer Jacques Cartier was leading an expedition up the St. Lawrence River. Trapped by bad weather, Cartier and his crew were forced to survive on a ration of salted meat and biscuits. Cartier's crew began to suffer from severe deficiency of vitamin C and showed symptoms of scurvy. Many crew members died before the surviving members encountered a friendly Native American who saved most of their lives. He told them to make a tea from the bark and needles of the pine tree to cure their malady. They complied and, as a result, Cartier and many crew members survived.
Some 400 years later, Professor Jacques Masquelier of the University of Bordeaux, France, read a book by Cartier detailing their expedition. He concluded that pine bark not only contained some vitamin C, but obviously was a good source of bioflavonoids, whose effects are similar to those of vitamin C. Further studies and research revealed that the pine bark contained an array of proanthocyanidins complexes. Utilizing Twitter to Grow Your Business is Easier Than You Think

A couple of months ago, I wrote an article for the Powerline Magazine outlining a step-by-step guide for using Twitter to find success as an entrepreneur. Over the past few weeks I have been working diligently to grow my own personal Twitter following, while additionally putting those best practices in place for the Market America account. In a short amount of time, I have seen tremendous results, and I think you will too if you follow these simple tweeting tactics:

1. Jump in feet first. Twitter is simple and it’s free, so getting started is as easy as the click of mouse. Find twitter.com to create a personal [or business] profile. In just a few steps, you’ll join the ranks of celebrities, politicians, business leaders and the worldwide Twitter community.
2. Just go for it. Send a tweet! You know what they say, “Practice makes perfect.” So, just do it — send a tweet about anything. Express a thought, share an activity or even send a link to something of interest. Enter a tweet [no more than 140 characters] in the small blank box on the Twitter home page.
3. Follow other people and businesses. Just like any other social media outlet, i.e. Facebook or Google+, Twitter is just like attending a networking event only it’s virtual! Making a statement is not enough; joining in the conversation is imperative. By following others, your own personal following will form — just like making connections in the real world.
4. Seek out friends. Use keywords and search twitter.com to locate old friends, new friends or people who share common interests. It is a quick and easy solution to form a following. Think of a topic of interest to search; this simple action will reveal all the tweets surrounding that topic, while additionally showing the profiles of those who tweeted. Then, simply start following fellow tweeters with similar interests!
5. Pay attention to Twitter etiquette. Sending spam, neglecting to join or contribute to conversation, and merely launching an advertising campaign probably won’t inspire a following. Instead, treat Twitter as a relationship builder where the give-and-take of friendship is at the forefront. Supporting others, asking for input and sharing projects and points of interest will build trust and interest in both your personal and business brand.

THE ANT PHILOSOPHY

Over the years, I have been teaching kids about a simple yet powerful concept: The Ant Philosophy. I think everybody should study ants. They have an amazing four-part philosophy.

     1. Ants Never Quit
That’s a good maxim. If they’re headed somewhere and you try to stop them, they’ll look for another way. They’ll climb over and under, they’ll crawl around and they keep looking for another way – they don’t give up. What an awesome philosophy to never quit finding ways to reach where you want to go. A true role model!
     2. Ants think about “winter” all summer
What a circumspect attitude. It simply wouldn’t make sense to think summer will last forever. Ants collect their food for the winter all over summer.
Quotations like “don’t build your house on sand” are founded. A house needs a foundation to last and very much the same way we need to look ahead and need to do things in a well structured way as the ants – never deterred by averse “winds”.
      3. Ants think about “summer” all winter
This is so important. During the winter ants keep reminding themselves “This won’t last long – we’ll soon be out again” and on the first warm day, the ants come out of their winter domicile. They are flexible though – when it turns cold again, they dive back in.  however they sense the warmth and can’t wait to stay out doing their job.
     4. How much will an ant collect in summer to prepare for the winter

The answer is: All they possibly can. What an incredible “all-you-possibly-can” philosophy!
